Interesting

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Governor Walker's budget repair bill would strip the rights of public employees across the board, except for police and firefighters. Both groups have been very vocal about the governor's plan, despite the fact that it would have no affect on their own jobs.

"We all have jobs to do and all of our jobs are important jobs so I don't see why we're exempted," said Bill Drath a firefighter and member of the Wisconsin Professional Firefighters Association Local 487. Drath says union members appreciate the gesture from the governor, but they don't agree with the plan. "The elimination of collective bargaining and what's been in place in Wisconsin for 50 plus years is wrong," continued Drath. "It's a step toward dictatorship, not democracy."

Why come?

The police and firemen have a far sweeter union contract than the other public employees.

Joe Scarborough today (on Morning Joe) believes that police and firefighters are more conservative and, like the other unions put a lot of money in Democrats campaigns, they put money in Republican campaigns.

Of course if there was "real" campaign reform all of this stuff would be meaningless... sigh.

  2. I know enough about this subject to convince me that unions are a "hate" topic."I hate unions!!!"
The queer thing about it is that a great number of these haters go to church each Sunday and call themselves Christian. Christians don't hate where I grew up.

They may guise it in "figure of speech" but I wonder. Christians should wonder too.

  3. Lots of hate about lots of things but I don't know that one is non-Christian because of a simple dislike often described as hate. I hate the 49ers but I don't hate the 49ers.

    Just sayin
